The Organization of Women Writers of Africa (OWWA) Inc. was founded in 1991 by poet Jayne Cortez of the United States and writer Ama Ata Aidoo of Ghana. OWWA is a non-profit literary organization concerned with the development and advancement of the literature of women writers from Africa and its Diaspora.
