YARI YARI PAMBERI: BLACK WOMEN WRITERS DISSECTING GLOBALIZATION
OCTOBER 12-16, 2004

The goal of this conference is to expand and intensify the debate, continue strengthening ties among women of African descent, promote their literature, create a platform for young emerging writers and raise public awareness about global developments.

The conference will consist of panel discussions, film and video screenings, performances, conversations, readings, workshops, exhibitions and open mike sessions.

Issues to be addressed include: the positive and negative possibilities' of globalization, the impact of new technologies on literature, publishing and distribution, globalization and the impact of dislocation and population movement of the creative process, global creative freedom and censorship, literary feminism in Africa and its Diaspora.
